Job PurposeTo ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all instrumentation and control systems at the plant by leading maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives in line with Engro Fertilizers’ safety, reliability, and production objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Operations & MaintenanceLead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of all field instruments, analyzers, control valves, and control systems (DCS/PLC/ESD).Ensure high availability and reliability of critical instrumentation through robust maintenance strategies.Diagnose and resolve complex instrumentation faults to minimize plant downtime.Supervise calibration and testing of process instruments as per defined standards and statutory requirements.

 

2. Asset Integrity & ReliabilityDevelop and update maintenance plans, SOPs, and equipment history in CMMS.Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.Participate in HAZOP, SIL studies, and OEM audits for instrumentation systems.Support turnarounds, shutdowns, and plant startups.

 

3. Projects & ModificationsProvide engineering support for CAPEX projects, plant upgrades, and debottlenecking initiatives.Review instrumentation design, data sheets, loop diagrams, and control philosophies.Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of new instruments and automation systems.Liaise with EPC contractors, OEMs, and vendors for engineering and execution support.

 

4. Safety, Compliance & QualityEnsure compliance with Engro Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards and statutory regulations.Drive safe work practices including PTW, LOTO, and MOC processes.Lead incident investigations related to instrumentation failures and implement preventive measures.Ensure ISO, PSM, and regulatory audit readiness.

 

5. Digitalization & Continuous ImprovementSupport digital transformation initiatives such as advanced process control, smart instruments, and predictive maintenance.Optimize use of DCS/PLC systems and plant automation for improved efficiency and data accuracy.Identify opportunities for cost optimization and energy efficiency.

 

6. Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and mentor junior engineers, supervisors, and technicians.Plan training and skill development programs for the instrumentation team.Manage manpower, shifts, and contractor resources effectively.

Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics / Control Engineering 

 

Experience : 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience, preferably in fertilizers, chemicals, oil & gas, or large continuous process plants.

 

Skills :

  • Hands-on experience with DCS (Yokogawa), PLC (Allen Bradley, SIEMENS), ESD (Triconex / HIMA) , Gas Turbine control systems (Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIe) and Field Instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of process control, analyzers, control valves, fieldbus systems, and SIL/IEC standards.
  • Experience in plant shutdowns, commissioning, troubleshooting, and reliability engineering.
