Provide enterprise-level process safety governance, guidance, and support across all Engro Business Units to achieve a consistent, “best-in-class” Process Safety Management system. Support GC in preventing major accidents by embedding process safety principles into operations, projects, and decision-making, in line with HSE standards and global best practices.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators 1/4

Description

Performance Indicators

  1. Drive a culture of process safety
Embed process safety principles and “Goal Zero” mindset into operations and leadership engagement.

A strong process safety mindset is evident throughout Engro: leadership visibly champions PSM goals; employees demonstrate increased awareness and ownership of process safety practices; PSM initiatives see broad participation and support across all BUs.

  1. Subject-matter expertise & external engagement
Serve as Engro’s authority on process safety regulations and best practices; represent externally.

Engro anticipates and complies with evolving PSM standards and best practices. Business units proactively seek guidance on process safety issues. Engro is recognized in industry forums (e.g., CCPS, API, AIChE) and maintains positive regulatory relationships for its collaborative approach to PSM.

  1. Strategic PSM planning
Develop and update a multi-year process safety roadmap aligned with corporate and ESG goals.

Comprehensive PSM roadmaps are endorsed by BU senior management. BUs incorporate roadmap targets into their operational plans. Progress reviews show continuous improvement in key process safety metrics against domestic and international benchmarks.

  1. Hazard identification & risk mitigation
Maintain a live register of process safety hazards; drive PHAs, LOPAs, SIL studies and monitoring.

A complete, current register of process safety hazards is accessible. Scheduled risk assessments occur as planned. Control plans for all high-risk issues are implemented. Trends in loss-of-containment and exposure levels improve or remain within acceptable limits.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators 2/4

  1. Develop & implement PSM standards & systems
Formulate PSM standards per CCPS/API/OSHA-PSM; oversee systemwide rollout.

Engro’s PSM system meets or exceeds CCPS/API/OSHA requirements. All BUs adhere to corporate PSM standards, demonstrated by successful internal audits and external certifications. Documentation is current; periodic reviews yield improvements with no gaps in critical areas.

  1. Integrate PSM into new projects
Oversee HAZOP/HAZID, MOC, PSSR and ESMP-equivalent reviews for all capital projects.

100% of new projects complete required process safety assessments on schedule and as per required quality. Regulatory approvals for PSM deliverables are secured without delay.

  1. PSM auditing & compliance assurance
Plan and conduct risk-based PSM audits; report findings and drive closure of corrective actions.

A full audit cycle is executed per schedule. Findings and recommendations are communicated to stakeholders. ≥ 95% of corrective action reports are closed within agreed timelines. Year-on-year audit scores improve and repeat findings are minimized.

  1. Performance monitoring & proactive improvement
Track leading/lagging PSM metrics; share insights and implement preventive interventions.

Regular PSM dashboards and trend analyses are produced and distributed. Early warning alerts on adverse trends trigger preventive measures. Over time, key safety indicators remain stable or improve, demonstrating effective performance management.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators 3/4

  1. Incident investigation & learning
Lead/participate in root-cause analyses for major process incidents and high-potential near-misses; disseminate lessons.

All significant incidents are investigated promptly and thoroughly. Reports meet corporate standards and timelines. Corrective and preventive actions are implemented and validated, resulting in no recurrence of the same root causes. Lessons learned are shared group-wide, driving improved PSM practices.

  1. HSE information management system (VelocityEHS)
Administer and enhance the OR module; ensure data integrity, adoption, and timely troubleshooting.

VelocityEHS is fully utilized: ≥ 95% of data entries are accurate and timely. User adoption rates are high. Technical issues are resolved promptly. Reliable PSM reports support decision-making. Usage analytics show continuous or increasing engagement across all BUs.

  1. Third-party PSM services management
Select and manage consultants, labs, and contractors for PSM studies, audits, and training.

All external PSM activities (HAZOP facilitation, QRA, SIL studies, training) are delivered by competent experts, meeting scope, quality, schedule, and budget. Any service deficiencies are addressed through feedback or provider replacement, ensuring top-quality support.

  1. PSM reporting & disclosure

Compile and present annual PSM performance reports; align with API RP 754 and internal governance requirements

Annual PSM performance report is published on schedule with complete, accurate data. Reporting aligns with API RP 754 definitions and internal frameworks, resulting in clear visibility of process safety performance and positive leadership feedback

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators 4/4

  1. Budgeting & resource management
Advise on annual PSM OPEX/CAPEX needs; monitor spend and manage variances

Resource proposals for process safety initiatives are approved annually. Expenditures are tracked and remain within approved limits. Variances are flagged and managed proactively. PSM projects are executed on time and within budget, demonstrating financial stewardship and value delivery.

  1. Governance & leadership reporting
Provide accurate, strategic PSM updates and risk insights to senior leadership, the Board, and BARC

Senior management and the Board are kept well informed of PSM performance and key risks. All required presentations are delivered on time, meeting executive-level standards. Leadership feedback indicates confidence in the data and insights provided. PSM considerations increasingly feature in strategic discussions

  1. Develop training plan & ensure competency
Design and roll out PSM training for BU personnel; monitor completion and effectiveness

PSM training requirements are identified and included in a training matrix. All targeted personnel complete mandatory training. Follow-up ensures adherence. Competency assessments demonstrate improved process safety knowledge and skills across BUs
