Job Purpose

Provide guidance and support with regards to Environment & Industrial Hygiene management in order to achieve consistent HSE Management across Engro Business Units (BU) in line with “best in class” international Standards.

Description

Performance Indicators

  1. Possess and maintain up-to-date environment and industrial hygiene/occupational health (IH/OH) management expertise and know how, as applicable to Engro BU facilities.

 

Able to analyze environment, IH/OH issues and work with concerned Engro BU to provide solutions related to Engro BU operations.

 

  1. Identify and document environment (air emissions, water discharges, groundwater, solid waste), and IH/OH (dust, asbestos, VCM, noise, radiation) hazards that exist in Engro BU Operations

 

Maintain Engro-wide environment and IH/OH hazards register and update on an on-going basis

  1. Develop and implement Level 1 environment, and IH/OH Standards in line with “most stringent” national and international Standards e.g. SEPA, ISO 14001, EPA, NIOSH, etc as well as provincial regulations and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGEGP) to manage hazards identified.

 

Implementation of “world class” environment, and IH/OH management system and updating, as required, in Engro BU. Review and update as per agreed schedule.

 

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators 2/4

  1. Facilitate and support the inclusion of environment, and IH/OH requirements in new projects scope i.e. ESIA, HRA.

Preparation of ESIA report, including ESMP for new projects. Approval from SEPA/provincial regulatory agencies. Conduct HRA.

 

  1. Conduct 2nd Party audits to measure the effectiveness of the L1 environment, and IH/OH standards implementation by BUs and categorize areas of improvement. Maintain follow up on timely close out of action items.

Availability of schedule for audit cycle and audits are conducted as per agreed timelines. Audit findings are appropriately closed-out in timely manner. L1 environment, and IH/OH management system Standards are revised, as required.

 

  1. Maintain Engro-wide environment, and IH/OH performance statistics i.e. environmental non-compliance, personal exposures to toxic chemicals, noise, dust, radiation, exceeding allowable limits, occupational health monitoring, and report as Key Performance Indicators. Analyze trends and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Develop communication pack for sharing with Engro BU and Engro Board.

 

Prevent occurrence of environment, and IH/OH incidents with adverse outcome through sharing of performance results and highlighting areas of concern to achieve proactive adjustment and prevention.

  1. Manage the functionality of the OPERA platform and ensure correct use by BU. Analyze utilization and highlight areas of concern. Troubleshoot operational issues through IT in order to facilitate use. 

 

Ensure effective functioning of the OPERA system and utilization by BU for reporting HSE activities in line with agreed protocol. 

  1. Manage 3rd party service providers to fulfill the environment, or IH/OH services needs of BUs

Professionally competent 3rd party service providers are utilized to achieve high quality safety support

  1. Preparation of annual budget and capex proposals for ECTD Group HSE activities and oversight on expenses to prevent overrun. Timely implementation of capex proposal.

 

Management approval is obtained and expenses are not allowed to overrun the approved limits.

Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Engineering

Professional Experience

At least 5 -6 years of environment, and IH/OH experience supporting Operations and/or Projects, such as plant or process engineering, project design, execution, engineering and/or technical service roles in fertilizer/petrochemicals industry.
