Job Title: Senior Assistant Instrument Engineer

Objective/Purpose of Job
Hand’s on, experienced, Instrument & Controls Assistant Engineer to provide on-going support for petrochemical manufacturing operation at the Port Qasim Karachi site. The individual will be actively involved in the specification, installation, start-up, maintenance and troubleshooting of the necessary field instruments, controls, and interlocks to support the on-going manufacturing processes and support new installations to upgrade Process Safety or increase the level of Process Automation.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with the Site Maintenance, Operations and Process Control teams, to troubleshoot and determine instrument repair or upgrade plans to support plant operations.

• Manage assigned process control and instrumentation improvement projects including testing requirements and start-up including required documentation.

• Execute Preventative Maintenance work plans for Instrument & Control systems.

• Interact with outside contractors, as necessary, to complete project work. Contract work must follow all local safety requirements.

• Follow Site Management of Change procedures. Follow appropriate safety reviews during the engineering definition, interlock and alarm design and testing phases as required.

• Interact with the Site Operations team for day-to-day activities Job & Main Specifications

• At least DAE in Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation and Controls Engineering.

• Field experience and strong knowledge of instrumentation.

• Knowledge of safety and quality procedures.

• Good communication skills, cost awareness & proactive approach.

• Ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.

Experience Requirements & Skill:

  • D.A.E/B.Tech (Electronics/Instrumentation & Control) with 12+ years of relevant experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Fertilizer, or Power Generation/Power Plants.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation, control systems, and field maintenance of process units, utilities, boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines, and HRSGs.
  • Experience in calibration, troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of field instruments, control valves, analyzers, PLC/DCS/ESD systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP PM module, PTW and PSM.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
