Job Role / Purpose

Responsible for end-to-end management of imports, expediting, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and legally compliant procurement and delivery of imported materials, equipment, spares, and capital goods to plant sites.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure strict compliance with company procedures, import policies, SBP regulations, exchange control laws, and customs rules for all import and export-related activities.

  2. Review and verify quotations, proforma invoices, purchase orders, and determine accurate HS/PCT codes to ensure correct customs classification and duty/tax assessment.

  3. Establish, amend, and manage Letters of Credit (LCs), open account payments, bank contracts, and guarantees in coordination with Treasury, Finance, Planning, commercial banks, and SBP.

  4. Liaise with State Bank of Pakistan, customs authorities, and government departments to obtain NOCs, special permissions, advance payment approvals, and resolve foreign exchange remittance issues.

  5. Handle expediting of shipments against open purchase orders, monitor logistics timelines, and ensure timely customs clearance, inland transportation, and delivery to plant sites.

  6. Prepare and manage complete sets of import and shipping documents; coordinate with clearing agents and arrange bank guarantees or undertakings for delivery orders when required.

  7. Verify customs duties, taxes, withholding tax, and manage Customs PD Account adjustments, refunds, de-blocking cases, and attend customs hearings related to valuation, concessions, and disputes.

  8. Manage capital equipment imports for plant projects, logistics, customs clearance, and coordination with vendors, insurers, and internal stakeholders.

  9. Maintain accurate electronic records and databases of imports, LCs, guarantees, MERs, duties, and compliance documents; compile monthly performance and import reports.

  10. Support cost optimization and savings across freight, customs clearance, and logistics while ensuring ethical business practices and customer satisfaction for critical spares and equipment.
