Role Purpose

To lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control functions for the organization’s capital projects portfolio. The role will establish robust project controls systems, monitor schedule and cost performance, and provide timely analysis and reporting to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop integrated project schedules and master plans for all ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Review, validate, and approve contractor baseline schedules.
  • Monitor progress, identify critical path risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct schedule analysis, delay assessments, and extension of time evaluations.

Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Track commitments, expenditures, and forecasts against approved budgets.
  • Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective measures.
  • Review contractor invoices, progress claims, and variation orders.
  • Support CAPEX planning and financial reporting requirements.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Establish KPIs and dashboards for schedule, cost, and project performance.
  • Issue weekly/monthly progress reports to management.
  • Provide early warnings on potential delays or overruns.
  • Maintain accurate project control data and documentation.

Risk & Change Management

  • Maintain risk registers and assess schedule/cost impacts.
  • Evaluate scope changes and prepare impact analysis.
  • Support proactive claim avoidance and contract compliance.

Systems & Governance

  • Develop and implement planning and cost control procedures, templates, and standards.
  • Ensure effective use of project management tools/software.
  • Promote best practices in project controls across disciplines.

Coordination

  • Liaise with engineering, procurement, finance, contractors, and site teams to ensure alignment of plans and budgets.
  • Support management reviews and project decision-making forums.

Qualification

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Civil/Mech or Related field
  • MBA – Preferred
  • PMP

Technical Skills

  • Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
  • Advanced MS Excel and reporting tools
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Knowledge of contracts, claims, and project controls methodologies
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) preferred
