Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Objective/Purpose of Job

Hand’s on, experienced, Electrical Engineer to provide on-going support for chemical manufacturing operation at the Port Qasim Karachi site. The individual will be actively involved in the design, specification, installation, start-up, maintenance and troubleshooting of the electrical power generation, distribution and protection system to support the on-going manufacturing processes and support new installations to improve reliability of the plant.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the site Maintenance, Operations and Process teams, to troubleshoot and determine electrical equipment repair or upgrade plans to support plant operations and Long Term Reliability.
  • Develop design specifications for new or existing equipment based upon specific manufacturing and process requirements.
  • Manage assigned reliability improvement projects including schedule, budget, testing requirements including required documentation and approvals.
  • Ensure active participation in relevant technical reviews such as Design Reviews, PHA, HAZOP, SAFOP, SIL, 3D Model, Constructability, etc.
  • Assist in the development and completion of check sheets and checklists for pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
  • Perform electrical equipment purchasing tasks, such as vendor bid enquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis and vendor selection. Review and approve vendor technical proposals, drawings, operating and maintenance manuals etc. and attend FAT/shop tests, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Company's ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures.
  • Prepare/ Review Preventative Maintenance work plans for all Electrical related equipment and systems including Electrical power generation, distribution, sub stations, switchgear, motors and Electrical control systems.
  • Supervise and manage outside contractors (both design and field construction), as necessary, to complete project work. Contract work must follow all local safety requirements.
  • Follow Site Management of Change procedures. Conduct appropriate safety reviews during engineering, design and testing phases as required.
  • Interact with the Site Operations team with an increased focus on the use reliable electrical power system for process and productivity improvements.
  • Responsible for the development of future electrical projects through a stage-gate process including project evaluation, assessment, definition, design, execution and start-up.

Job & Main Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Two to four years cognate experience within the Petrochemical, Chemical, Oil and Gas, and /or Power Plant Industry
  • Hands-on working experience on following systems preferred:
  • Substation automation and load management system
  • GE Excitation System for generators
  • Short Circuit and Protection Coordination Studies
  • DC and AC UPS Systems
  • Protection relays for MV and LV electrical network
  • MV and LV VFDs
  • Exposure to Consultancy, Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCIC and Operations activities
  • Field experience and strong knowledge of power electronic based control systems software, tools, and techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international regulations, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality procedures.
  • Good communication skills, cost awareness & proactive approach.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.
  • A team player with excellent analytical, problem solving and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Activity scheduling and discipline work priorities.
  • Ability to distil problems, establish evidence-based facts, determine accurate conclusions, and make recommendation

 

Experience Requirement:

BE Electrical  with 2-4 years of relevant experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas or Fertilizer
